Project Description

From April 2011 to July 2011 extensive repair works were carried out in one of the two water chambers of the elevated drinking water reservoir of Bad Nauheim, Germany, built in 1965. The chamber was brought to technical state of the art and will provide the citizens of Bad Nauheim with fresh, clean drinking water during the coming years. The colour remained blue, however, instead of the tiles of the 60ies, now a microsilica- modified shotcrete mortar stands out. The colour contrast of blue walls, white ceiling and grey floors improves the chamber also optically and brings astonishment to the faces of visitors. The operator, the civic utility service Bad Neuheim, is highly satisfied with the successful repair works and has already placed the order for the repair of the second chamber also built in 1965.

When selecting the new lining, the operator followed the recommendations of the expert and opted for a coating with shotcrete mortar. The specialized applicator in the repair of drinking water reservoirs, company Fritz Wiedemann und Sohn GmbH, processed the pure mineral, inorganic shotcrete mortar MICROTOP TW NSM from KORODUR, which meets all demands in this domain. MICROTOP TW NSM is a microsilica-modified shotcrete mortar which is applied in wet mix method without any synthetic additives. This new product, developed specially for the drinking water domain, had its premiere in Bad Nauheim – hygienically impeccable and approved acc. to the guide lines of the DVGW work sheets W 300 and W 347.
