At a TEXACO gas station on the A50 motorway near Arnheim in the Netherlands, pumping areas were due for repair. Concrete areas at gas stations where petrol is stored, pumped, handled, must fill stipulated liquid density requirements. They are subject to the directive \u201cDetermination of penetration of liquids into concrete by the capillary absorption test\u201d.
\nThe Rapid Set fast-setting concrete achieved excellent test results (being exposed for 144 hours to the n-Heptan medium) and is fully approved for the use at petrol stations. The Rapid Set fast-setting concrete provides both high liquid density and high early strength. The tests of compressive strength showed results of 24,8 MPa after 1 hour and 32,5 MPa after 2 hours. Due to the fast strength gain, the new pumping areas could be released for operation within shortest time.<\/p>\n
The pumping areas were completely refurbished with Rapid Set fast-setting concrete, area sizes 5 x 15 x 0.2 m.
\nThe required concrete quantity of 15 m\u00b3 per area was mixed on site by two fully loaded volumetric mixing trucks and installed by concrete pump. Surface treatment with helicopter and disk trowel, curing with water and foil.
\nWith Rapid Set fast-setting concrete in volumetric processing the repair of 5 pumping areas could be finished within 5 weeks.<\/p>\n
