| | From all over Europe the huge building parts for the world's biggest passenger plane, the Airbus A 380, are transported to Toulouse for the final assembly.
Not only the dimensions of the Airbus A 380 are gigantic, also the hall for the final assembly is the hugest industrial building of the continent. This hangar was built in a breathtaking speed. Also 250 km of streets in this area were necessary to ensure the assembly of this huge plane.
This so-called Aeroconstellation-Areal located in the North East of the Airport has a ground surface of 180 Hektar and was totally new constructed during the past 3 years.
Heart of this areal is the 460 m long and 250 m wide assembly hangar for the A 380. The building is 46 m high and has a ground surface of 100,000 m².
Like in other European production sites, Airbus in Toulouse relied on the heavy duty industrial floors produced with KORODUR floor hardeners.
During the last years more than 200,000 m² KORODUR industrial floors (NEODUR dry mortars) were successfully installed for EADS sites.
KORODUR could not have defined this performance better than it was expressed by the former Airbus manager, Noel Forgeard, when he had estimated the maiden flight of the world's largest passenger plane on 27.04.05 as collective success of the Europe-wide 50,000 co-workers "We all were in time, the European Aviation can be proud".
Also KORODUR is proud having participated in this success, at least indirectly.
