A repeatedly demanded requirement for sales, exposition and residential rooms for a neutral and natural floor covering which at the same time offers superior design for the presentation of exposition objects and equipment, recently could be realized with SECUNDUR in the "domicil" project in Dortmund.

 

In 2005 the "domicil" moved into the former studio cinema of UFA (reopened in the course of the reconstruction in 1955). This place was closed in the mid 90ties and then was used for several years as boulevard theatre (Comdie Dortmund, Hansatheatre, Theatre Hansastrasse) - picture 1 -, until in 2003 then the theatre lights finally extinguished.

 

In May 2004 the "domicil e. V." started the rebuilding of the former cinema - picture 2 -.

The rebuilding was enabled due to financial support from the side of the ministry for urban planning, dwelling, culture and sports of the federated country NRW, the city of Dortmund as well as due to voluminous personal performance of the "domicil" club members. The planning and coordination of construction measures was in hands of the architect Klein from the architectural office Heidenreich - Hummert - Klein from Dortmund Derne.

 

In the former audience room, which after its reconstruction is used also as concert room for e. g. Jazz music, a very expressive and trendy floor for multiple use was required. With SECUNDUR design floor, matching up with the furniture colour, the contemporary architecture could be realized.

 

With SECUNDUR it is question of coloured cement screed, which can be produced in smoothed optics SECUNDUR - N or in polished optics SECUNDUR - S, in a layer thickness of up to 7 cm, also as heating screed on insulation layers or in compound.

 

Firstly, the audience room was totally dismantled - picture 3 -. Then foam glass chipping was poured on (approx. 180 m³) - picture 4 - and after its compaction insulation panels were placed on it, and there on a PE sheet.

On to this sub-base SECUNDUR - N was applied in layer thickness of in middle 55 mm (expert execution by Messrs. Estrich-Bäumer) - pictures 5 + 6 - and specially treated to produce the wanted "cloud formation effect" on the surface - pictures 7 + 8 -.

For durability and easy cleaning the SECUNDUR - N design screed was thoroughly cleaned and treated with a maintenance system, primed with a polymer pore filler and treated with a polymer coat.

 

For the later cleaning only a two step wet cleaning procedure is required using a special cleaning concentrate.

SECUNDUR is highly economical with individual design optics.
